Hydrostatic Testing ensures the stability, reliability and safety of high pressure cylinders and vessels. It is required by US DOT regulations. Failure to retest cylinders may result in Injury or Death.
DOT and ISO cylinders are the heart of many Breathing Air storage systems in fire departments, paintball, SCUBA and industry applications. A system may include two or more UN-ISO DOT cylinders, mounted in your facility, on a mobile air trailer or out of sight inside your fire truck and they are often overlooked for the required Hydrostatic Testing
During a hydrostatic test, the cylinder is examined for leaks, structural flaws, durability, and corrosion to ensure it can safely hold its rated pressure. Testing of cylinders for transport and storage of gases is very important because such containers can explode if they fail under pressure.
All cylinders bearing DOT specification markings must be inspected, retested, and marked as mandated by DOT 173.34. DOT cylinders require re-testing at five year intervals whereas the new UN Cylinders are designed under specification ISO 9809-2; are DOT qualified cylinders and require a 10 year re-test interval.
American Airoworks recommends you to check your high pressure breathing air storage cylinder, in the station or on your fire truck, for the last Hydrostatic Testing Date. Please do that right now!
Our AC99074 Hydro Test Placard gives you an easy to see reminder of next re-test date. >>>> Buy and install one for your fire truck, station or cascade system now!
